Our initial offering, the
2007 Holiday Events & Shopping Guide, was created out of a desire to
enable a group of culturally based institutions and businesses to cooperatively promote their events and business
offerings.
In
the summer of 2007 we were asked by
a group of Washington DC based
businesses to organize the design of a flyer
promoting their upcoming events that was to be distributed at the annual
Black Family Reunion Celebration during the weekend of September 8-9. We
asked Sala Damali of Kuumba
Kollectibles to create the design while we collected the
information from the nine participants.
While doing the flyer project, we decided to create a tri-fold
brochure that would have a more controlled distribution and greater
design presence, as well. Hence the Events & Shopping Guide concept
was born to serve cultural institutions in the greater Washington,
DC / Baltimore, MD region.
The design of the brochure places eight events in the center panels
and spaces for nineteen business card ads on the cover and side panels.
5,000 copies of the guide are produced and are available at the
locations of the participants and other
business locations. A copies can be downloaded
as well however we recommend you patronize our businesses.
The next issue of the guide will be entitled
Be Mo Jazz Guide and we invite you to
participate by purchasing a business card or
events listing ad.
The deadline for registering is May 10, 2008. |
