| The Be Mo
Jazz project, organized by CA-FAM
III, Inc.,
is an effort to honor the history, celebrate the presence and ensure the
future of jazz music and culture. Baltimore is a perfect city to
create such a project because of its rich history of celebrating
indigenous music traditions. And the Mid-Atlantic region [PA, DE,
MD, DC, VA, NC] is overflowing with musical talent to be both showcased
and developed. Be
Mo Jazz plans to: |

Performance |
Produce a regularly scheduled
performance series of jazz in its varied manifestations at the Frederick
Douglass – Isaac Myers Maritime Park Museum on the waterfront. On
April 9, 2008 we began a weekly series similar to the Jazz Night in Southwest
series at Westminster Church in Washington, DC. and are seeking
performers
to participate. |

Publishing |
Produce
a free guide, published on a regularly scheduled basis, to inform the
public of jazz related events and resources in the area. The guide
will list Be Mo Jazz project events and
provide advertising
opportunities for artists, promoters, clubs & performance spaces,
special events and music product promotions. |
| 3 |
Events
Listing | Create a free
web-based interactive events listing service enabling presenters and
artists the ability to post events and the public access to the
information. |
| 4 |
Mentoring | Promote
inter-generational exchange (mentoring) between elders in the music and
young musicians. Interested? |
| 5 |
History |Study
and record jazz history in the Baltimore/Washington region by recording
personal histories of elder
jazz performers, writers, critics, supporters/promoters, artists
and observers
to be made available to the
public as general information and for research purposes. Help
us identify
television
studio spaces
that might be located in community settings and/or educational
facilities to record these oral histories. |
| 6 |
Education | Organize a series of workshops
and seminars on jazz and African-American culture. Any
ideas? |
| 7 |
New Media | Distribute
recorded histories & selected workshop/seminar lectures via internet
streaming technology and podcasting. Have
